Leading the way in responsible investing

Learn more about the Responsible Investment Leaders funds

Overview

Responsible investment is a term used to describe an investment process which takes environment, social, governance (ESG) or ethical considerations into account. The aim of incorporating ESG factors into the investment decision-making process is to better manage risk and generate sustainable, long-term returns.

As one of the longest-standing managers of responsible investment funds in New Zealand and Australia, AMP Capital has more than a decade of experience in integrating ESG research across the investments we manage. We were also amongst the first to sign on to the Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI) in 2007.

We believe that consideration of ESG principles in investment decisions provides deeper insight into areas of risk and opportunity that could materially impact the value and performance of our investments. In short, integrating ESG insights allows us to make better informed decisions about investments we make on behalf of our clients. These insights also inform our active engagement with investee companies and assets on ESG topics.

Discover how investing responsibly may lead to better investment performance and stronger outcomes for investors.

Why consider AMP Capital for responsible investment?

Diversification
AMP Capital’s responsible investment funds are actively managed and provide broad diversification by asset class and manager style across a range of markets. This has the benefit of reducing portfolio volatility, while also investing in line with responsible investment parameters.
Stringent process
Our responsible investment funds employ a robust investment process that combines a sustainability focus with stringent financial analysis. The overall objective is to generate competitive returns within a sustainable and responsible framework.
Expertise
AMP Capital was one of the first managers to genuinely integrate ESG research into investment decisions. Our in-house ESG research team has accumulated proprietary knowledge and experience in analysing and integrating ESG issues across a range of asset classes.
Engagement
We seek high standards of transparency, corporate governance and social responsibility from the companies in which we invest. This involves monitoring and engaging with companies on key aspects of their corporate governance and relationship with society as a whole.
